The International Folk Festival - Montana 2020, has been canceled
The International Folk Festival - Montana 2020, dedicated to the Day of Montana - Holy Spirit, has been canceled. The reason is a coronavirus pandemic. It makes impossible to implement the event between June 6 and 11.
Folk dance groups from Poland, Macedonia, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, approved to participate in the festival, will be invited to its edition next year. It will take place in Montana from 19 to 24 June 2012.
Montana's holiday will be celebrated in appropriate way according to the epidemiological situation in the country.

Folklore formations from Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, Ukraine, Netherlands, and Hungary are going to participate in 14th International Folk Festival - Montana 2019. All groups will dance during the opening of the event on the eve of the celebration of Montana Holliday – Holly Spirit. The ceremony will begin on 16 June at 7:30 pm at the open-air stage at the “Zheravitsa square”. In case of rainy weather, the folklore spectacle will be at the hall of Drama Theater.
The dance groups will take part in the lithium procession form the new temple “Holy Spirit” to the central square on 17th June – the big Christian’s Holliday. Immediately after the solemn celebration, which will be served by high ranking bishops of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, they will present the most attractive dances from their repertoire in a concert starting at 11:30. According to settled tradition at Holly Spirit Day is the Bulgarian evening in the Festival’s program. The folk ensembles form the host city – “Mladost”, “Ogosta”, “Pastrina”, “Pastrenets Jr.”, “Severnyatsi” and “Sitnitsa” will sing and play after 7 pm on the stage.
The concerts of the foreign groups and their partners form Montana will be held in the next evenings after 7 pm. The Representative for CIOFF Folk Dance Ensemble “Pastrina” and its friend's groups from Amphilochia - Greece, and Kecskemét - Hungary will appear on Tuesday. Full of rhythms and colors will be the concert on Wednesday, which will discover typical or characteristics of Bulgarian, Polish, Ukrainian, Romanian and Dutch folklore. Folk Dance Association “Sitnica” will open the program with its guests from Dabrovica - Poland. After them, the Ukrainian children of the Exemplary Ensemble “Druzhba” and the Folk Dance Ensemble “Severnyatsi” by the United Children Complex "We, Sparrows" – Montana, will be inspired to dance by the applause of the audience. At the finals, they will give way to the stage of the Ensemble “Mladost” and their old friends from the Romanian Folk Song and Dance Group “Padureanka” and their new acquaintances from the Group “Ons-Borehood” from the Netherlands.
Some of Bulgarian groups will return the creative visit of their partners groups. Ensemble “Mladost” by the Municipal Youth Home will depart to Romanian city Deva, where a great folk festival takes place this summer. RFE „Pastrina” will be at a tour in sunny Greece. The enthusiasts form “Severnyatsi”, who went back yesterday from Slovakia, have invited the folk group from Kežmarok to participate in the next edition of International Folk Festival – Montana 2020.
RUSLAN MAYNOV SINGS WITH THE MONTANA BRASS BAND

The Montana International Folklore Festival 2019 will give its stage to the Diko Iliev Brass Band on June 18 after 8 pm. The oldest formation of the Community Center "Razum 1883" will celebrate its 90th anniversary with the spectacular concert at Zheravitsa Square. The special guest will be the actor and singer Ruslan Maynov.
The musicians with conductor Under the direction of Plamen Krumov will present horo melodies and marches from the rich musical heritage of their patron Diko Iliev. His pieces include motives from the Bulgarian folklore and because of that the concert successfully fits into the program of the International Folklore Festival, which is dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Montana - Holy Spirit.
The Brass Band Vivo Montana will also be joining the music gathering of generations of musicians. Famous Bulgarian songs will be performed. The participation of Folk Dance Ensemble "Pastrina" will be an attractive addition to the concert program of the brass band.
Masters show crafts in Montana

An Alley of arts and crafts will be held for the seventh consecutive year during the celebration of the Day of Montana - Holy Spirit. It is an accompanying event of the Montana International Folklore Festival 2019. About 50 masters from all over the country will exhibit their works on June 14 at Zheravitsa Square. They will feature traditional and interior ceramics, wooden souvenirs and woodcarving, painted glass and silk, handmade jewelry, embroidered shirts, paintings and souvenirs made from natural materials.
"The focus this year will be on the children. - specifies Lydia Kostova - a member of the Regional Chamber of Crafts, who is the initiator and organizer of the event. - There will be a special place for creative activities with the youngest visitors. They will be able to get involved and craft an item. "
During the four days of the event, some of the masters will also make demonstrations. Visitors will have the opportunity, under their guidance, to create something or just watch their skillful performances. The center of attention is again expected to be Dimitar Terziev from Troyan, who will help everyone who wishes to make a clay pot on an authentic potter's wheel. The participants in the Montana International Folklore Festival 2019 are interested in these creative experiments.

A culinary exhibition of traditional dishes prepared by the Comunity centers in the villages Lipen, Studen Buche, Smolyanovtsi, Mala Kutlovitsa, Dolno Belotintsi and Dolna Verenitsa will be the new moment in the eighth edition of the Festival called "Babina Dushitsa" ("Tyme"). It is traditionally held on the Saturday before the celebration of the Day of Montana - Holy Spirit and it is an accompanying event of the International Folklore Festival. This year it will start at 10:00 am on June 15 at the City Garden.
For the third time, the children of the Lovers of Coffee and Thick Books Club, united by the local writer Eli Lozanova, will symbolically host "Babina Dushitsa" Festival. They have invited a few contemporary Bulgarian writers to cook traditional dishes together. Here will be Stoyan Nikolov-Torlak, Dedo Skrutch, Georgi Tomov, Kiril Nikolov and others. Guests of the festival will be able to buy their books and get an autograph.
At 1:30 pm, the jury, traditionally led by Mayor Zlatko Zhivkov, will determine the winners of the demonstration, after which the dishes will be available for tasting. They will also be tested by the members of dance groups from Poland, Hungary, and Ukraine, who will arrive to attend the International Folk Festival - Montana 2019 before noon.
Folk groups from Egypt, Finland and Spain - for first time are on the stage in Montana
Mayor of Montana Zlatko Zhivkov will open Tenth International Festival on May 31, 19 pm. The event is part of the Feast of Montana - Holy Spirit. Creative groups from six foreign countries and all local ensembles will dance and sing on the square "Zheravitsa" every night to 3 June For the first time in the festival participants from Egypt, Finland and Spain. Visiting orchestras from Slovenia, Slovakia and Serbia will show various shades of Slavic folklore.
With most attractive performances dance groups will participate in the concert of the Holy Spirit from 10.30 .. The richness of Bulgarian folklore will be shown to visitors and lovers of folklore in the evening concert of the festival program. After 19 h.
